Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): Our frequently asked questions (FAQ) page will give specifics to help you complete your custom wine label request. If you don't see the answer to any of your questions, please contact the winery directly or e-mail us at labels@horizoncellars.com.
What's the minimum order: One (1) bottle. We don't want to put a minimum number of bottles on this program. If you want just one bottle for that special occasion, no problem. If you want One Hundred (100) cases, no problem there too. Just let us know ahead of time.
How much do custom labels cost: Not as much as you would think. Whether you want One (1) bottle or One Hundred (100) cases, we only charge a $15.00 fee for the standard template setup fee for each label. Each printed label is then $1.00 per bottle. If your label needs custom graphics artwork, then that standard setup fee starts at $25/hour (minimum one hour).
Turn-Around Time: Five (5) business days advance notice is required for standard template orders. Customized graphic artwork order require 2-3 weeks lead time. RUSH ORDERS are $10.00 for the first three (3) bottles with $1.00 each additional bottle up to $18.00 per case additional cost. Additionally, any RUSH ORDERS with custom graphic artwork is $50.00 additional cost plus normal graphic artwork fees.
All custom wine labeling fees AND wine purchase must be paid in full BEFORE labels are printed.
If you order more than one type of wine and are adding customized information to the label template THAT IS DIFFERENT from each other label, you will need to place separate orders for each wine and design separate labels for each wine you order. (Example: Happy Birthday Joe, Happy Birthday Mary on two (2) different wine types with two is considered two different labels, even though is may be using the same template).
Customer emails request, graphics and text to labels@horizoncellars.com. Refer to "Image Content Guidelines". We recommend that the graphic file(s) resolution a minimum of 300dpi and supplied in either a .TIFF (uncompressed preferred) or .JPG/.JPEG format. We can accept other formats; contact us for full specifications.
There should be a ¼ inch margin between the edge of the label design and any important elements like text or logos. We do not recommend using any thin borders on the edge of the label as they may be cut off during the printing and trimming process.
Once graphics and text are received and incorporated into the label, a proof is emailed back to customer for approval.
Wine information will not be printed on your front label design. The wine information will appear on the registered back labels we are legally required to apply to the bottles. We recommend that you do not add wine information to your label designs. However, if you want wine information on your label design, you must design the label for the wine you would like to order. Legally, the information you add to the label must read exactly as the wine brand, vintage, varietal and appellation; contact us for full specifications and requirements. Additional federal/state registration & administration fees may apply.
We can offer specially requested bottle sizes and/or styles. This requires a minimum of six (6) cases and an additional vendor & administrative fee (each instance TBD); contact us for turn-around times, suggestions and current offerings.
Shipping*: We currently ship ONLY within North Carolina. Wine Shipments must be made by an approved carrier such as FEDEX Ground. Wine cannot be shipped via US Postal Service. Wine shipments must be made to a physical address (no P.O. boxes). Business address shipments are recommended over residential deliveries since deliveries must be signed by an adult and legal age/name verified. Residential evening hours shipments incur an additional $8 handling charge.
